Frequently Asked Questions
How do I contact my licensor? You can contact the Syracuse Regional Office of OCFS at 315-423-1202. You can ask to be connected to your specific licensor or the licensor on duty. If you know your licensor's name, a Child Care Specialist at Family Enrichment Network can provide you with the direct phone number or email address.
What is CACFP?CACFP stands for the Child and Adult Care Food Program. The program reimburses child care programs for healthy, nutritious meals and snacks served to children in their care.
Do I have to keep menus as part of CACFP?Yes, you are required to keep records of what foods you serve the children, but the program can be done online which greatly limits the amount of paperwork involved.
For information about what records you need to keep, call the CACFP Coordinator or monitor.
Why do I have to have home visits as part of CACFP?The Department of Health, who funds CACFP, requires us to do home visits (monitoring visits). These visits are required to be unannounced. During these visits, we must check your records, but can also include technical assistance and training to help you with your program.
What if I don't have a computer? You can access the Minute Menu program for CACFP from any computer that has internet access or we can supply you with scanable forms called bubble sheets.
