Kinship Care Program / Raising Another's Child

The Kinship Program offers help to those people who are find themselves rasiing some one else's child. Kinship caregiver's are eligible for cash assistance through the Department of Social Services (DSS) and the Kinship Program can provide assisance with the application process and advocacy at DSS. If needed the kinship program can provide support in family court and assistance with custody issues as well as community referrals and links to other resources.However due to cuts in the Governor's Budget the Kinship Program has been cut to 20 hours a week and counseling services are no longer available. If you have concerns requiring kinship counseling please contact the Kinship Advocate and she will rediredct you to other community resources.
